May 14, 2009. The regular monthly board meeting was called to order by Chariperson Paul Toft. The minutes of the April 14, 2009 meeting were read by the clerk. Minutes approved as read. Notice of the meeting was posted in the Rice Lake Chronotype and Town Shop. All members present.
Treasurerís and road reports were given. $40,000 CD will become due at the end of May. Renewal will be dependent on purchase of truck and paving projects. Decision will be made at June meeting. Roadwork was done on 26th Avenue around new culverts. A motion was made by Dennis Willger to allow Chairperson Paul Toft to monitor the price of a truck and pay up to $20K if purchase was available. Steve Schultz seconded the motion and the motion carried. Bid notice for 26th Avenue was read aloud. Will be placed in Rice Lake Chronotype with bids received by June 1, 2009 and jobs will be awarded at June meeting.
Due to prior problems at the boat landing, Chairperson Paul Toft spoke with DNR John Spangberg and received a letter with recommendations for future repairs. Suggestions included signs for no responsibility for power loading and scraping out 2 yards of rock and replacing with larger stones. A motion was made by Steve Schulz and was seconded by Dennis Willger to have project started as soon as possible with Chairperson Paul Toft contacting the county for a back hoe and Randy Mancl providing the rock. The motion was carried.
Annual review of the ATV trails was done. Present were Mike Greenwold from Shadyrest Campground and Tammy and Jeff Gagner from Whitetail Ridge campground. With no complaints and trails up to par the trails a motion was made by Steve Schultz to renew the trails for another year. The motion was seconded by Dennis Willger and passed. Tammy and Jeff Gagner also requested that 8/10 of a mile on 30th Avenue(Narrow Guage) between Town of Bear Lake and Town of Barronnette be opened to connect the trail between the two towns. A motion was made by Dennis Willger to okay this addition to the existing trail and was seconded by Steve Schultz. The motion was carried.
Subdivision requests were made to the town board by Wally Kolba, Louis Willger, and Paul Hill. Requests from Wally Kolba and Louis Willger were signed by the board not applicable as Town of Bear Lake is not zoned. Paul Hill was told to check with DNR and county zoning because of the proximity of lake frontage. His form was not signed.
