Town of Bear Lake Meeting Minutes 07/13/2022
Meeting called to order at 7:01 pm by chairman Paul Toft. Meeting was noticed at the town shop and on the town web page. Members Present: Dave Wellsandt, Paul Toft, Steve Schultz, Kathy Willger and Lisa Blechinger.
Meeting minutes from June were read by clerk and accepted as read motion by Steve 2nd by Dave no further discussion motion carried.
Public Appearances- Patti Anderson was present and reported that the Bear Lake Association is adding 2 additional cleaning stations- which have been well received by the public and deemed effective. Patti also submitted to the Board a document she received from a meeting she attended that she found interesting. The document was called What Does the Property Tax Fund? 2021 It contained information that showed every dollar of property tax 45% goes to K-12, 26% to Municipalities, 4% to Tech Colleges, County 19% and Other 6%.
Report on roads- Clint reported that he spread gravel on Monday. He is becoming familiar with the new tractor. On 26th he was able to fill in the biggest holes. He has not been able to get ahold of anyone at the County to get patch mix. Randy Mancl put crushed black top on the Lake Thirty boat landing and Clint packed it. There was a power failure on Monday July 11th and the door would not open. There was an outside light that fried and blew the breaker. Meyers Electric was out and this was resolved. Driveway Permit for Eric Rigg- 2925 161/2 Street was reviewed. Steve and Clint agreed that having a turn around on 16 ½ would be an advantage for the Township. Dave made a preliminary approval for a driveway permit- to offer a 50/50 cost split Paul Seconded this. Steve will follow up with Mr. Rigg.
Treasurer’s Report- Kathy - Money Market Savings and checking account balances reviewed and June bills were reviewed as paid. Steve made a motion to accept the report was seconded by Dave- no further discussion motion carried.
Old Business- Potential levy increase discussed, nothing new was brought up.
New Business- TAC Meeting County approved 5-1-2023 that most county highways will be open to ATV/UTV traffic. Chairman passed along to the Clerk from the County a request for information. For our Township it would be V, VV and B. Paul had a chart graphic that he shared that showed budget items vs what was spent that would be helpful as we start looking to develop the 2023 budget. Showing a graphic of budgeted items vs actual cost in 2022 would highlight the costs that have gone up the most this year. The towns SAMS number needs to be renewed- a letter was signed by chairman that verifies the town shop address as physical location so that our profile can be updated. Once the SAM number is updated- the township will receive an UMPI number that will never expire.
Payment of bills.
